Why choose Salford
Salford has been chosen as British Triathlon's formal bid to host the 2010 BG Triathlon World Championships. It offers an outstanding city centre course great for athletes, spectators and the media.
The course is set in a magnificent waterside location at the heart of the redeveloped Salford Quays in Greater Manchester and takes in world famous landmarks such as The Lowry, Imperial War Museum North and Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium.
The course is multi lap and each circuit takes the competitors past a spectator grandstand giving rise to a superb 'stadium' environment.
The open water has excellent quality and is tested fortnightly. There is no current in the closed dock so swim times are fast.
The bike route is on totally closed roads for all races and is flat and fast.
The route chosen for the run is similarly flat and offers fantastic opportunitites for spectating. The finish is over the Lowry footbridge in front of the iconic arts venue, The Lowry.
